Machine Learning for Biomedical Informatics

We develop algorithms for machine learning (including active learning, proactive learning and deep learning) techniques for protein-protein interaction prediction. Discovery of protein-protein interactions is analogous to discovery of relations in a social network.

Text Mining and Information Retrieval

We develop machine learning, text mining and information retrieval algorithms (a) to identify the most impactful computational discoveries, (b) to support computational discoveries and to (c) to disseminate computational discoveries effectively.

Genomics and Cancer Informatics

We developed a suite of tools that use efficient data structures and algorithms to mine for patterns in genomic sequences. Now, we are analyzing personal genomes from The Cancer Genome Atlas and the 1000Genomes projects to find potentially deleterious mutations that alter stability of the genome or the proteome.
